Easter Excitement

I love Easter Sunday.  For a church-going, Southern gal like myself, it means getting all dolled up for the Sunday morning service, picking lots of pretty spring flowers, and eating delicious things like ham and asparagus casserole at family dinner.

The last few years I haven't really bought an Easter dress.  For a while, my entire family was at the beach on Easter, so there was no need to buy a dress.  Last year I wore a Liberty of London for Target dress that looked very Easter-y but just wasn't anything special; just something I had hanging in my closet.

It's a small picture, but you get the idea.  LOVE that dress, but I really wanted to go out and buy something new this year.  And then I saw this at Belk's yesterday...

I know black isn't typically the color of choice for an Easter dress, but it was just so freakin' cute on that I got it anyway.  Plus, unlike a pastel Lilly Pulitzer dress, I can wear this all year long... either with a jacket and tights, or flip flops.  It makes me look super skinny, too, which is always a nice treat.  I'll try to get some pictures of me wearing it this weekend, since I'm attempting to be a better photographer/blogger and all. We'll see if I actually keep that promise.

Cha'lston and Confessions

Okay, so I may have lied.  I never meant to, but I did.  I don't think I have one picture from my weekend in Charleston.  How horrible is that?  I'm telling y'all, I'm not a natural-born photographer.  I just never think to pull out my camera.  And if I do think about it, I'm usually too lazy to actually follow through with it.  Pitiful, right?  I really am going to try to do better, though.  Promise!!

All that aside, we had a wonderful time.  Friday evening we went to an oyster roast at a friend's house for a nice, laid-back evening and more steamed oysters than you would believe!  I ate at least a bushel by myself.  Saturday morning we went for a nice run along the Battery and then had the most delicious omelets ever!  Jess got the garden omelet with the addition of ham and I had the steak and mushroom omelet which was A-mazing.  After a delicious lunch at Shem's Creek (holy amazing crab cake batman!!) we had enough time to go shopping on King Street and then take all evening figuring out what to wear out.  We ate at Amen Street on East Bay and holy crap it was amazing.  I had some scallop dish and a cucumber infused gin and tonic... totally wish I would have gotten some pics of that.  Anyway it was a great weekend and NEXT time I'll have photos to prove it.

Anyway, I really haven't had much to write about.  My entire life is work and sleep these days, which just doesn't make for much writing material.  I have been trying to eat better and exercise in my spare time, though, and can I just say, Starbucks has the best breakfast!  I love breakfast foods just as much as the next gal, but I don't always want a big breakfast.  I stopped in at Starbucks the other morning and had a delicious fruit bowl and an always wonderful Izze.

Bonus points for fitting perfectly in my cup holders

Clementine... yummm!

Seriously... a fruit cup with kiwi, apples, grapes, and cantaloupe that was actually ripe.  Bravo Starbucks.  Bravo.  Well as promised, I will be doing better with the pictures and the posting.  Even if I have to make stuff up so I have something to write about elaborate on the little, everyday things.  Til then!
