Peace Up, A-Town Down
In a couple of weeks I will be off to Atlanta with my Momela for a few days. She has to go every year for work, so while she is in meetings and classes all day, I will be tearing up the town. Or rather, the town will be tearing up my bank account.
One of the wonderful things about Atlanta is that they have stores like H&M and Zara, which we don't have in good ol' SC. And since they don't have online stores, this is my only chance. I still can't believe neither one of these stores has an online shop in the states. We're the greatest country in the world and I can't shop at two of the best stores ever while sitting at home in my sweatpants eating ice cream? That's just un-American.
I found these two trenchcoats on their website but I can't decide which one I like best.
Helloooo kimono!

They have a loverly selection of blouses.
Helloooo kimono!
I want some red and white pants worse than bad. Super cute and super American. Win-win.
Fancy!
I have no idea why, but I've been jonesin' for a pair of mustard yellow shoes for some time now and these are grey poupon in my book.
So in love with those leopard booties that I die... I died when I saw the price, too, but not in a good way. I guess the only logical solution is substituting leopard print moccasins to help ease the pain... yeah, that seems reasonable.

Designer on a Dime
Money is tight for everyone these days, but a recession is no reason not to look fashionable and fabulous. Here in the South we have limited access to designer goodies anyway. I mean, there's access, but not like in New York or L.A. So to keep with the times without breaking my bank, I make do with what I can find... and most of the time I find it at Target.
Of course Target is well-known for its designer collaborations, but outside of that even, they have some pretty awesome stuff, that, while not quite the real thing, is close enough... for now.
Chanel ballet flats? Please and thank you. Since I can't quite pony up the money for Chanel yet, cue the Target alternative:
When I saw those cream colored beauts online, I started reaching for the credit card, only to find out they were sold out. Bummer.
I bought this bag several months ago and LOVED it... til it broke. The little metal clasp part tore through the faux leather and I eventually had to throw it away. That sucked, but I recently discovered a fun fact about target.com... they sell melie bianco handbags! Who knew? That led me to discover this little gem:
My new favorite handbag... once I buy it. At $79, it's still a little bit cheaper than buying the bag of melie b's site and definitely more reasonable that $2,000. Too bad I don't have a birthday againt until October...

Almost as good as cute shoes, is a cute handbag. I've recently become obsessed with Proenza Schouler's PS1. It comes in like a zillion different colors and patterns and I just love it. I do not love the price tag, though (2k range...eek!) My substitute?

Easter Excitement
I love Easter Sunday. For a church-going, Southern gal like myself, it means getting all dolled up for the Sunday morning service, picking lots of pretty spring flowers, and eating delicious things like ham and asparagus casserole at family dinner.
The last few years I haven't really bought an Easter dress. For a while, my entire family was at the beach on Easter, so there was no need to buy a dress. Last year I wore a Liberty of London for Target dress that looked very Easter-y but just wasn't anything special; just something I had hanging in my closet.
It's a small picture, but you get the idea. LOVE that dress, but I really wanted to go out and buy something new this year. And then I saw this at Belk's yesterday...
I know black isn't typically the color of choice for an Easter dress, but it was just so freakin' cute on that I got it anyway. Plus, unlike a pastel Lilly Pulitzer dress, I can wear this all year long... either with a jacket and tights, or flip flops. It makes me look super skinny, too, which is always a nice treat. I'll try to get some pictures of me wearing it this weekend, since I'm attempting to be a better photographer/blogger and all. We'll see if I actually keep that promise.

Cha'lston and Confessions
Okay, so I may have lied. I never meant to, but I did. I don't think I have one picture from my weekend in Charleston. How horrible is that? I'm telling y'all, I'm not a natural-born photographer. I just never think to pull out my camera. And if I do think about it, I'm usually too lazy to actually follow through with it. Pitiful, right? I really am going to try to do better, though. Promise!!
All that aside, we had a wonderful time. Friday evening we went to an oyster roast at a friend's house for a nice, laid-back evening and more steamed oysters than you would believe! I ate at least a bushel by myself. Saturday morning we went for a nice run along the Battery and then had the most delicious omelets ever! Jess got the garden omelet with the addition of ham and I had the steak and mushroom omelet which was A-mazing. After a delicious lunch at Shem's Creek (holy amazing crab cake batman!!) we had enough time to go shopping on King Street and then take all evening figuring out what to wear out. We ate at Amen Street on East Bay and holy crap it was amazing. I had some scallop dish and a cucumber infused gin and tonic... totally wish I would have gotten some pics of that. Anyway it was a great weekend and NEXT time I'll have photos to prove it.
Anyway, I really haven't had much to write about. My entire life is work and sleep these days, which just doesn't make for much writing material. I have been trying to eat better and exercise in my spare time, though, and can I just say, Starbucks has the best breakfast! I love breakfast foods just as much as the next gal, but I don't always want a big breakfast. I stopped in at Starbucks the other morning and had a delicious fruit bowl and an always wonderful Izze.
Seriously... a fruit cup with kiwi, apples, grapes, and cantaloupe that was actually ripe. Bravo Starbucks. Bravo. Well as promised, I will be doing better with the pictures and the posting. Even if I have tomake stuff up so I have something to write about elaborate on the little, everyday things. Til then!
